I am Emma van Steen, founder of Wildmoss. English born, I have been living in the Netherlands for 10 years. Originally studying marine biology, my career started as a marine environmental consultant specialising in marine plants. More recently I decided to explore a more creative path that could still include my passion for nature. This finally led me, in 2020, to pursue a career in Garden Design. Since then I have taken on several client projects whilst completing various design and gardening courses.

The practice is based in Amersfoort, but we accept clients from a broad range of localities.

I am very passionate about nature and sustainability, grown over my 20 years of working as a marine biologist. My garden designs are focused on providing a functional outdoor space that connects with the client as well as the surrounding natural environment. I am also a mother of two boys with a small city garden, so I appreciate the value of space and the importance of maximising every inch whilst factoring in the needs of the whole family.

Ultimately, I enjoy the challenge and result of transforming a garden to fit with a clients’ needs. I take the quality of my projects to heart and take pleasure in working closely with my clients ensuring they are an integral part of the process. I like to remain objective and communicative, bringing imagination to the ideas of my clients and helping them love their gardens again.
