Wildmoss Garden Design

Wildmoss

Its important to find a name that supports your ideals and truly represents your business aims. For me, Wildmoss was the perfect choice. Moss is ever present, surviving on earth since way before humans existed. It covers the earth like a blanket. A soft spongy texture underfoot, somewhat comforting. Some consider it a weed, but for me it is a symbol of opportunity. It is resilient, adaptive, and evidence that plant life can, and does, colonise even the most uninviting places.

A little background

Best known as a plant species that carpets woodland and forest floors, moss has incredible properties and a wealth of benefits to offer our ecosystem.

  • Mosses are tolerant to a range of conditions including extreme heat and cold, occupying otherwise uninhabitable areas.
  • They are primary colonisers, helping stabilise disturbed ground and releasing nutrients for more complex plants to survive.
  • Their dense ground cover and excellent water-absorption properties help control soil erosion.
  • Absorbing harmful toxins from the soil, mosses act as a natural water purification system promoting additional plant growth.

The Netherlands is a densely populated nation. Most of us live in urban dwellings with limited space. With our ever changing natural environment it has become more important than ever to inject as much greenery into our lives as possible. Just like wild moss, there is always an opportunity to promote plant life. Regardless of the size or location of garden there is always the possibility to reconnect with the outdoors and create a retreat that supports nature.
